On the way to our next destination, we pulled aside to take some snapshot of this lovely snow capped mountain; Mt Yotei.
School children in uniform on a school outing were helping themselves to the fresh spring water. The water tasted so clean and refreshing.
As were were driving away from Fukidashi Park, we passed by a farm, and couldn't help capturing a few snapshots of the cows.
We spotted a fox walking leisurely across the road ahead of us. We slowed down, pulled aside and managed to get a few snapshots before he walked off into the bushes. Can you spot the fox looking at us?
The day before, temperature dropped and snow fell in this part of the mountain. This wooden path to Shinsen Park, was covered in snow. It was a slippery walk up to the lake.
Cambridge Tea Room. A cosy team room owned and run by an English speaking Japanese lady. She makes her own cheese in the house next door, and includes it in her cheesecakes. ¥2310 for 2 persons.
Cape Kamui. Taking the scenic coastal road north towards Cape Kamui there are stunning view of Shakotan Peninsula. The seawater at Cape Kamui is crystal clear a phenomenon known as Shakotan Blue.
Arriving at Otaru City we asked directions to the famous Otaru Canal. Otaru has been Hokkaido’s main port since the Meijin period. During the Bunka era (1804 - 1818), Otaru flourished with herring fishing. In 1893 development of a canal began due to increase of ships and cargo involved in the herring industry. Otaru Canal was completed in 1923.Today stone warehouses have been turned into shops and museums and the gas lamps built along the canal romantically illuminates the water of the Otaru Canal.
